AQ: How were you discovered? What was your first photo-shoot like? Kasey May: I lived with a friend when I moved out here, she did modeling (more bondage and such) but said I should try modeling because she thought I was beautiful and as a student it would be a good way to make some cash on the side. My first photo shoot was a great experience; it involved me and 3 other models just getting some basic set up and headshot type portraits. There were two photographers, both very professional and shot in their own way. I was the only model not under contract with a talent agency, although the other models said I really should get on with a company...oddly enough that's how I got into acting. AQ: Who is or was your idol in modeling? Kasey May: I have never really had an idol for modeling, although I do love the vintage style modeling and look to women like Betty Paige for inspiration. AQ: What do you think your best feature is currently? Kasey May: My athletic body and strong jaw line. AQ: Is there something you aspire to do professionally that you have not done yet? Kasey May: Not yet. It has sort of been my way that when I want to do something I just go for it. The only thing that holds people back is themselves, I say - if you want it, it's worth giving a shot at. AQ: What is your pet peeve regarding a photo-shoot? Kasey May: Currently it would be the way most models are asked to do nude photography. I work exclusively with only a very few photographers, but it seems like these days anyone with a camera is asking women to take off their clothes for what they consider 'modeling'. AQ: Have you ever been bullied as a model? Kasey May: Personally no, and I would stand up for any of my modeling friends. Modeling is an art, our bodies and how we pose them are the canvas...but art isn't for everyone, that doesn't mean you can harsh someone's creativity. AQ: What is the best and worst experience you have had modeling? Kasey May: The best experience continues to be the amazing collaboration I have had with Tracy Rose, it's amazing when you can just click with a photographer and make some amazing work. The worst experience would be the time I did a bikini shoot in a downtown urban setting. There were crowds of spectators and the photos did not turn out very well. I kind of felt on display in a bad way, and when the pictures did not look good it only made it worse. AQ: Is there anything you would change about modeling at your level? Kasey May: At my level? No, I love modeling and I do it in my spare time as a creative outlet. For the career of modeling I would just say that people need to change their views on what a model is - a model is a part of a piece of art that should exact an emotion from you, a sort of curiosity and an aesthetic fulfillment should come from the art as a whole. A model is not a 'type' we all have beautiful bodies regardless of size or color, you wouldn't expect all art to have the same theme would you? AQ: Please share something people don't know about you. Kasey May: I love to sing. Hopefully someday I can write a song that reaches out to people. AQ: What would you change about yourself if you could? Kasey May: I really am in touch with who I am, I would not change anything. AQ: What is your favorite image or images you have modeled in to this date? Kasey May: There are some really great Polaroid's of me floating around that I love. Probably my favorite shoot so far has been the vintage style modeling with Aquiline Photography, we really nailed it! People, myself included, love those pictures and I had a ton of fun. AQ: What is your next upcoming project if you have one? Kasey May: Beginning the new year I am starting a photography project of my own - 365 BW ; A year in black and white. AQ: Thanks and wonderful work. We look forward to more of your exhilarating work as you accomplish it!
